Fast Cats SeaFishing faster with Cheetah

Introducing Dreamcatcher, Cheetahs latest fishing machine and Fast Cat SeaFishing’s newest addition to the Falmouth charter fleet.

The 9.7m Cheetah is now at her homeport of Falmouth following an epic winter delivery trip skippered by new owner and lifelong fishermen Jerry.

'7 hours 30 mins from Ventnor to Falmouth averaging 20-22 knots at 3000 rpm with an E-SE 4-5 and SW swell. Sloppy sea and not a single slam, she ate everything. It’s simply the best piece of kit and I couldn’t be happier. Hats off to the Cheetah Marine team.'

Vessel Details

Dreamcatcher features the popular sportsfishing style walkaround cab, with 2m long internal floor space accommodating bolster seating for four with its primary focus for transit between fishing sites. Webasto cabin heating offers crew comfort for out of season and early morning starts.

Outside, the large spacious deck is all on one level around the cabin enabling easy access forward for fishing from the bow. Jerry prefers to fish for bass in relatively shallow water, close in around sand bars and amongst reefs. Secondary steering located on the aft cabin bulkhead allows swift transition between fishing and motoring getting clients on the right spot at the right time. A central deck bait station and live bait well has been fabricated by Cheetah Marine to Jerry’s exact requirements with 20 or so rod holders in the gantry, bait station and stern and sidedecks.

‘This 9.7m Cheetah has a straightforward layout with some highly bespoke elements requested by Jerry which completely focuses on the job at hand. This is my favourite type of build where we can really focus on building a boat that fits it’s No 1. purpose’comments Sean Strevens, Cheetah Designer.

Jerry uses various techniques, offering bait-fishing over wrecks, trolling for tuna and shark fishing further afield. He will continue to run trips to his favourite grounds including the Manacles Reef and plans to thoroughly test the Cheetah’s capabilities on extended trips to the Scillys and further offshore.

Dreamcatcher is powered by twin Yamaha 250hp outboards. With top speeds of 40 knots and very economical cruising speeds of 40-50 litres per hour at 17-20 knots. Simrad’s extensive Evo 3 multifunction package provides the latest in navigation and fishing electronics with screen relay to the scanstrut monitor outside. Dreamcatcher has been built to conform to MCA category 2 for operation day and night, up to 60 miles from a safe haven. She is licensed for up to 8 passengers and 2 crew.
