Cheetah Secures International Contract with GEUS for advanced Inshore Survey Vessel

Cheetah Marine continues to lead the way in innovative commercial vessel design with a new contract awarded by the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS). The order marks a significant step forward in survey vessel performance and capability.

GEUS has selected Cheetah to build a custom 11.2m x 3.7m multi-functional inshore survey boat tailored specifically for coastal and shallow-water exploration. The vessel will play a key role in ongoing geological and environmental assessments across Denmark and Greenland, and its design reflects both the practical demands and high-performance standards required in modern survey work.

“This contract is another fantastic example of how Cheetah Marine continues to support commercial operators with bespoke, seaworthy craft designed to tackle real-world challenges,” said Bas Edmonds, Managing Director at Cheetah Marine. “We’re proud to partner with GEUS to deliver a survey vessel that reflects our shared commitment to innovation and operational excellence.”

Designed for Practical Performance

The new survey vessel has been engineered with space efficiency and shallow draft capability at the forefront – key requirements for inshore scientific work. Its robust twin Yamaha 200hp outboards are integrated with Yamaha’s advanced Helm Master system, ensuring precise low-speed manoeuvrability – an essential feature for accurate data collection in tight or sensitive marine environments.

This propulsion and steering set-up is ideally matched with the Cheetah powercat’s hull design, renowned for its stability, durability, and exceptional seaworthiness even in challenging coastal conditions.

Advanced Survey Features Onboard

Supporting a wide range of operational needs, the vessel will feature a moonpool designed specifically for sonar deployment using Cheetah’s trademarked Hydropod system, allowing for seamless integration of advanced survey equipment. In addition, a telescopic boom crane will enable easy handling of instruments and sampling gear, further enhancing the vessel’s versatility and operational efficiency.

Built for the Future of Marine Surveying

Cheetah Marine’s latest contract win underscores its growing reputation as a trusted builder of purpose-driven commercial craft. This new vessel not only demonstrates the company’s deep understanding of the needs of marine scientists and surveyors, but also showcases its ability to deliver performance-focused, practical solutions that meet the rigorous standards of international clients like GEUS.

Construction is now underway, and both teams are looking forward to seeing the vessel take shape over the coming months. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting project as it progresses.
